ANALYZE PAST DRAWINGS
Q: How Can I Analyze Past Drawings using BEST BET ?
A: BEST BET keeps a file of all of the winning lottery drawings. Using
the information on past drawings, BEST BET calculates some interesting
statistics and other information about past drawings. The following
key analysis features are provided:
* Lottery Statistical Analysis Report
* Total Statistics Report
* Drawing "Hits" Table (how many times number has hit)
* Most-drawn and Least-drawn Numbers
* How many times numbers have been drawn
* Drawings-since-hit Analysis (how many drawings since number has hit)
Each of these reports is discussed in greated detail below.
Q: What does "Show All Statistics" do ?
A: This report calculates and shows all of the analysis reports, including:
* Lottery Statistical Analysis Report, containing:
+ (Which Drawing) Each drawing date,
+ (Date MM/DD/YY) The drawing's winning numbers,
+ (SUM) The sum of the winning numbers (total when added together),
+ (AVG) The average winning number (total divided by 6),
+ (STD DEV) The standard deviation (a statistical way of measuring
how much each number deviates from the average number),
+ (SPREAD RANGE) The "spread" or range of the numbers
(largest minus smallest number)
+ (#ODD/#EVEN) The number of "odd" and "even" numbers
+ (AVG GAP) The average "gap" (distance) between each number
and the next number in the sequence.
+ (CUM AVG) The "cumulative average" of this drawing and the
past 9 drawings; i.e., a running average of the
last 10 drawings, including the current drawing.
This report contains statistical data about each drawing. By studying
the drawings over time, it is possible to establish certain patterns.
However, be reminded that lottery drawings are, by definition, known to
be mathematically unpredictable. That is not to say that patterns cannot
and do not exist. It means that you cannot count on a particular pattern
to hold for very long or to be predictable, given the random nature of
the drawings.
For example, over a long period of time, probabilities suggest that the
same number of ODD numbers will be selected as will be EVEN numbers.
One might choose to believe that if, for example, ODD numbers have been
occurring more often than even numbers, then it is time for more odd
numbers to be chosen. Of course, one never really knows for sure. This
is just one possible assumption.
Each of the other available analysis reports is discussed below.
Q: What does "Show By Number of Hits" do ?
A: It first asks you "Show hit list for how many recent drawings (xx) ?".
You can simply press 'Enter' to look at the most winning numbers for
all numbers in the database. If you wanted to look at the most winning
numbers over the past 10 drawings, for example, enter '10' here.
Next, a "map" of how often each number has "hit" (been selected) is
shown. This map contains ten entries per row and five rows of numbers,
for a total of fifty numbers (in Texas; your state may vary somewhat).
Along the sides and the top is a key to assist you in reading the map.
Each entry in the map shows you how many times the corresponding number
was selected. Since this map is somewhat difficult to interpret, we
also break the information down for you further.
The next page of the report shows:
* Most Drawn Numbers - the six most winning numbers during that period
* Least Drawn Numbers - the six least-drawn numbers during that period
* Numbers drawn xx times - each line shows which numbers were drawn
during the last 'xx' drawings.
Q: What does "Show Most Winning Numbers" do ?
A: This report shows the Most-drawn, Least-drawn and how many times
each number has been drawn:
* Most Drawn Numbers - the six most winning numbers during that period
* Least Drawn Numbers - the six least-drawn numbers during that period
* Numbers drawn xx times - each line shows which numbers were drawn
during the last 'xx' drawings.
Q: What does "Show Drawings Since Number has Hit" do ?
A: This report shows a "map" of how many drawings it has been since
each number has hit. The higher the number, the longer it has been
since the number has been drawn. One might decide that numbers which
have not been chosen in a long time are "due" to hit soon. One might
also decide to pick the most-winning numbers that have not been
drawn most recently. There are many possible "systems" to use.
Q: What does "Show Most Overdue Numbers" do ?
A: This report shows how many drawings it has been since the "most
overdue" numbers have hit. A number is considered "overdue" when
it has not been drawn for a relatively longer number of drawings as
compared to other numbers. This report shows the most-overdue
numbers first, followed by the less overdue numbers.
Q: What is "Show Statistics Summary" ?
A: This report shows the summary statistics for the selected number of
most recent drawings:
Tot Dwgs - Total number of drawings being summarized
SUM - The sum of all drawings being summarized
AVG - The average number drawn in all drawings summarized
AVG SPREAD - The average "spread" (distance from smallest to
largest number) over the number of drawings summarized
% ODD - The percentage of the numbers which are odd.
% EVEN - The percentage of the numbers which are even.
G0 - G7 - The average "gap" between the numbers over the period
(G0 is the distance from 1 to the first number,
G1 is the distance from the first to the second,
G2 to G6 is the distance between each other number,
and G7 is the distance between the last number and
biggest possible number (e.g., 50 in Texas Pick 6).
GAVG - The average "gap" for all numbers.
Q: How can I use the analysis information ?
A: The analysis report information can be used in a variety of ways,
depending upon each person's own "system" of playing the lottery.
For example, my system for playing the lottery might be:
1) Look for the most-winning number over the past 10, 20, 30 and
all drawings. At the time of this writing, that number is 10.
The next most-drawn numbers are 13 and 21.
2) Look at "drawings since number has hit", selecing the top two
most "overdue" numbers. At the time of this writing, those
numbers are 3 and 12.
So far, my numbers are: 3, 10, 12, 13, and 21.
That's three ODD numbers and 2 EVEN numbers. I like to keep
the number of ODDS and EVENS about the same since I believe
that it is most probable that they will come up near even
more often than not.
3) Now, I can use the "Generate Playslip" option to create several
different combinations of the above numbers -or- I can use
the SMART-WHEEL generator to take my numbers and generate a
wheel. I think I'll use SMART-WHEEL. Here are the results
for a seven number wheel (I told SMART-WHEEL to choose the
remaining two numbers at random and it chose 2 and 39):
I then generated a wheel from: 3, 10, 12, 13, 21, 2 and 39
Playboard A: 3 10 12 13 21 2
Playboard B: 3 10 12 13 21 39
Playboard C: 3 10 12 13 2 39
Playboard D: 3 10 12 21 2 39
Playboard E: 3 10 13 21 2 39
Playboard A: 3 12 13 21 2 39
Playboard B: 10 12 13 21 2 39
The above system is but one of many possible systems. We are not trying
to suggest the above particular system, or any given system, but only
to explain how one could use their own system along with BEST BET's
drawing analysis information.
Another system for playing the lottery might be to study the last
10 drawings statistical information, then decide on some "filter"
parameters to be used with SMART-FILTER. Then, use either a wheel
or the number pickers combined with SMART-FILTER to select sequences
that meet your desired filter criteria.
Good Luck!
